Safety has always been our top concern at Skylight Balloon Lighting. The evolving global pandemic has only increased our focus on keeping the sets we work on and our staff as safe as possible.

THE MOST SOCIALLY DISTANT LIGHTS AVAILABLE

Only one—or zero technicians are required to safely inflate, operate, and wrap our balloon lights and grip clouds. This makes our gear the most socially distant lights available and a cost-effective choice while maintaining social distancing standards.

We've also already implemented measures from the PERG Safe Return to Work Guidelines. These were created help to prevent the spread of coronavirus for camera and lighting equipment rental outfits, rental sound stage facilities, and all rental vehicles. Skylight is also prepared to follow additional production procedures as they develop.

Virtual Balloon Technicians

Here’s another update we made to our COVID-19 response that should help those close to restarting. Since many productions have different guidelines, we’re now offering a couple of options during the pandemic for those who may not be able to have an outside balloon tech on set as a day-player. You can still have best-in-class lighting without a tech on set.

Your virtual tech
Many of our balloons can be operated by your existing crew with a little virtual guidance from our team. Weather and location permitting, we can make our balloons available for pick-up, pre-loaded in a sterilized cube truck with helium, via our contactless check-out procedure.

A virtual, certified balloon technician is then available to oversee setup, teardown, and balloon equipment usage. That tech will also be on standby as a resource for the duration of the shoot.

Personal Protective Equipment

In addition to the PERG recommendations, we're also following the updated strategies from the Center on Disease Control regarding the use of PPE. While on set and with our partners, we'll be using items such as face masks and gloves, and then correctly sanitizing or disposing of these items when work is complete.

equipment check in/out process

One specific area we've reviewed and made changes with is our check-in/check-out procedures. Based on the PERG recommendations, we're now thoroughly sanitizing all equipment and vehicles before leaving for set and upon their return.
